Set Reg Help? Anybody?

This is obviously an ongoing issue but I am tearing my hair out.

My primary set registry is the Trade Dollars Chop Mark Complete Variety Set, Circulation Strikes (1873-1878) https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/composite/6521 It's a sleepy set that almost no one participates in. But it's important to me.

At some point about 6 weeks ago, somebody requested the addition of three generic slots (1875-CC, 1875-S, 1876-S) despite the fact that each of those dates is represented by multiple varieties and having the generic date is duplicative and nonsensical. For example, the 75-CC has two recognized varieties, the type 1/1 and the type 1/2. There is no point in having the broader date of 75-CC when all of its iterations are encompassed in one of the two variety slots.

I have spent thousands of dollars getting my coins variety attributed specifically to fulfill this registry. Fine, mistakes happen, it's a very niche area that I know better than literally anyone at PCGS. It's just a misunderstanding with an easy fix.

I have emailed on 6/6, 6/12, 6/18, and 6/24. I called in and spoke to a rep on 6/18, 6/30, and today. I was promised a call back on 6/30. In return, I received one email back on 6/18 that my request has been received. In the meantime, I have now not received a Set Registry award because of the timing of this.

I am beyond frustrated and angry. I truly don't understand how PCGS can continue to operate in this fashion. Please, somebody, this has to be a fix that can be done in 5 minutes or less. Is anybody from PCGS willing to provide the absolute bare minimum in customer support?

Why is raising a stink in public after a month of butting my head against the wall the only way to accomplish anything with this company???

$5500 in PCGS expenses over just the last 2 years...

I agree - it looks like there's absolutely no reason for those slots to be in those sets. Just to play devil's advocate, is the email you're using " PCGSsetregistry@collectors.com "? As I understand it, that's the only version that works now (they've had two or three others over the years that are now abandoned or unmonitored) -- All that being said, it's still not uncommon for emails to go unnoticed, or to take a month or several months for anybody to actually address them.

The blue "Best of Registry" icon, I suspect, will still be able to be applied, I doubt that'll be in jeopardy. Any potential for Gold, however, could be compromised, in theory - although it's always a wildcard when it comes to them picking Golds anyway. The last few years, it's taken several months for any of the awards or icons to be posted, so it's absence right now doesn't mean it's been disqualified or anything -- I suspect that part will work itself out just fine....in time.

The registry crew has been pretty good about getting things addressed and fixed, ONCE THEY ACTUALLY SEE THEM. -- The problem is, it seems, that for a good 85% of the problems - they never see 'em - I don't know if we need to send out emails every day and just spam the snot out of 'em, or call every 12 hours (and sit on hold for 8 of those...) or just sit back and wait. I do know that a lot of people have chosen Option D -- Exit stage left and never look back. The registry's poor support has cost them a LOT of "former users" -- and has dropped me from Platinum to Silver membership. They've no longer earned my top-tier funding source. Sadly, when getting that change made, their reps made no attempt to even pretend to care. :-/

@oldsmagnet It is the correct email - they have reached out to me once on 6/18 to say:

  • @lermish - I fully understand your frustration... One of the problems is that they don't have a consistent approach. I 've seen instances where they deny the inclusion of varieties which are broadly recognized, whereas in other cases they are adding varieties which may not be even exist...

The problem with your set is that due to these "new varieties", you are not meeting the minimum 95% completion threshold...

You're exactly right which is why this is so frustrating. I'm confident that even once they fix it, no one is going back to give me my flag. Another year to wait.

@pcgs_education @PCGS_Hy @pcgs_social Can I get a response from one of you or somebody in the set registry? Or will I just be twisting in the wind for months?
