I will have to admit, this coin is gorgeous! It was on my watch list since it's an open slot in my set. It was 1200 on Sunday morning and I never even bid. Hammer was over 3400! Anyone else surprised by the results?

Someone is seriously buried in this one. Yikes.

WLHs with appealing toning are difficult to find.
Nice head, some thumb separation, clean fields - nice example.
The money is comparable with prices realized during Legend Auctions sale of the Dale Larson collection.
Gotta think this half dollar is superb in hand and the owner is happy notwithstanding the steep acquisition cost.

It reminds me of a beautiful sunset. Really nice color. When bidders with $$$ enter the race……

Nicely toned Walkers are hard to find and can go for strong premiums but this one went higher than I expected.

I liked this one a little better. It was a point lower and only had strong toning on one side. It ended for 1,445.62 with the fee.

I wouldn't buy it --- couldn't justify the money spent.

I believe that with enough searching, you could find another one for a lot less money. I have a 1945D star 66 that is just as gorgeous as this one (if not more) and I only paid about $275 for it. Granted, that was about 10 years ago and the market has likely changed since then. I’ve seen comparable ones on dealers websites for $4000, which I think is crazy! Maybe I’m just lucky…🍀🍺 In any event, that is too much money for me to justify for a coin like that. I don’t pay silly premiums for color.

Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

When it comes to toning it's a different crowd. A large crowd with plenty of money to spend. I like looking at them!
