Right now, shipping coins between Canada and the United States is generally pretty straightforward, but there are some things to keep in mind. For the most part, there are no special tariffs applied just because you’re sending coins — especially if they’re being sent for personal collecting or trading and not in huge commercial quantities. In the U.S., packages valued under $800 USD usually enter duty-free under the de minimis threshold, so many collectors don’t run into any extra charges. Of course, you still have to properly declare what you’re shipping and be honest about the value — customs can always ask for proof.

On the Canadian side, things are similar but the duty-free limit is much lower, around CAD $40 for personal imports. Anything above that might get hit with GST/HST or PST, depending on the province, but coins that are legal tender or minted in North America often slip through without extra duties. That said, you can’t just assume your package will breeze through — customs can open packages, inspect them, and sometimes charge fees if they think something’s been undervalued. When shipping or receiving coins, it’s best to pack them securely, insure valuable pieces, and keep all your paperwork handy just in case there’s any question at the border.

God comes first in everything I do. I’m dedicated to serving Him with my whole life. Coin collecting is just a hobby—but even in that, I seek to honor Him. ✝️
