dont let the door hit you on the way out. I dont even care what we get in return, we lost a clubhouse cancer that would have been a terrible influence on all the rookies playing right now.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Red Sox fans need to send a Christmas card to the Giants for that one

correct, i believe there were still 8 years left on that terrible contract.

    addition by subtraction.

If the Giants really are eating the contract its 2043 with the deferred money. I dont like the Giants so I love the move lol

Everybody has their own opinions but I'd love the subtraction of Devers even if they got a waterboy for him. They can always dump the traded players for nothing if they dont work out.

just looking at devers body type and ¨dedication¨ to physical fitness, I imagine the remaining 8 years of his contract will age about as good as milk...

unbelieveable contracts baseball players get now. no way they ever live up to them and get teams any return value on players.

They basically all give teams a return on investment unless a player gets hurt which is why teams do it. Other than Yamamoto and Soto they all have significant deferred money thats paid out long after theyre no longer with the team. Merch sales, ticket prices, ad revenue, attendance all increase when a superstar joins a team. Their contracts pay for themselves.

The 8 million average veteran are the contracts teams dont get a return on which is why those goes have been having a hard time in free agency unless theyre willing to sign for a million or two
