Private Messages

I'm a member of many chat forums on various subjects. They all have different operating options for example on some, you can follow other members, etc.
I've noticed that some CU members do not accept PM's. Other very important members do. I'm curious as to why other very important members don't accept PM's. They don't need to reply. On two different occasions - one regarding Trade dollars and the other regarding original research, permission to PM that member was blocked. I do understand that if a member has another member on "IGNORE" they do not receive PM's from the member they blocked. One good thing about that is a member can tell if any other member has them on ignore. LOL.
So, my question is this: Are you a member who does not accept PM's from everyone? Do you care to say why?
Comments
There are three posters I have on ignore who cannot send me DMs. One of them has mental health problems and the other two drive me nuts.
I am here for fun and enjoyment revolving mostly around my coin collecting hobby. If someone is so irritating that their DMs will diminish my enjoyment of the forum then I don't want to hear from them.

That proves if a member blocks another member, they cannot receive PM's from them. I'm waiting to hear if any member blocks everyone. Since you are the only member who has taken the time or interest to reply, I'll just need to keep wondering. Thanks again. You (a very advanced collector) especially, and Joe's book have gotten me very interested in Trade dollars. Best of all there are no red ones (patterns?) that can develop spots over time!!! LOL.
Last I knew you can only block up to five members, maybe that has changed. But it would be a lot of work to block everyone. I personally don't have anyone blocked currently and only blocked one member in the past who was banned so that solved that issue for me.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Not sure if it is applicable, but here it goes anyway.
Some members have their profile set to private.

As far as I know, you can still send these members a PM via your PM inbox.

Just create a "new message", and enter the name of the intended recipient.
PM sent
I see what you did here @Morgan White
So you’re saying that one of the three posters has mental health problems and the other two cause you to have them.😉

I cannot think of any reason to block someone. To me it's a sign of weakness. LOL, when the game gets tough, you take your football and go home. Sooner or later even a troll will teach us something.
THANKS! That "Permission Problem" was one of the things that happened. I didn't think to try and send a message. Anyway, I contacted him on another forum.
Or, it's a sign that whoever has been blocked is such a tiresome pedant that not a thing they contribute (worthwhile or not) could be worth dealing with them.
I wouldn't expect such a tiresome pedant to be able to understand that blocking annoying people is not a sign of weakness but rather a practical way to not waste time and energy. There are better things to do in this life than "prove one's strength" by tolerating coin forum posters who are just a drag every time that they post anything.

I would presume that people with a "better than thou" attitude get blocked a lot also. Just sayin!!!

Ironically, the OP has already threatened to block me a couple of times; he just couldn't figure out how to do it.
I accept and try to reply to all pms, but between forum messages, emails, texts, voicemails, it's tough to keep up sometimes. If anyone ever doesn't hear back from me, feel free to follow up though other means, ie email or text directly.

Say it isn't so -LOL. In truth, I did block you for a week, but I missed you! I find all of you youthful members very entertaining. As I wrote, on occasion you actually do post something useful Mr. T.
Huh,
I never had such a problem, yet.
Just a thought .
I'd use , wiffleball rules.
Two strikes, ( any foul balls, are, included )
and ,"Your out of there".
On a side note, take your equipment and tell your story walking.
That's how I played.
Hey, you forgot to post a magnified image of a corroded coin having nothing to do with the discussion it is posted in.
"There's no flipping a coin in wiffleball" !
I accept PM but would advise caution in giving out any private data especially if some troll (data mining probe). You can always block them too. Don’t feed the trolls lol.
Just baaa them.
LOL. I see where all of you are coming from. I'm temperamental.
10% temper and 90% mental.

I don’t even like texting with loved ones. You’re lucky I come here.

I found out that a very knowledgeable member I tried to PM has me blocked. LOL, my loss.
You don't say!
Yep, it is not you though. He is a very knowledgeable contributor that got me so interested in Trade dollars that I joined the club, bought the back issues of the Journal, got the new Trade dollar book, and now own several. I wanted to thank him in private and ask him about the reed counts and leg segments that are not mentioned in the literature. Perhaps you have some knowledge about those coins and can post in that discussion. Additionally, I purchased a complete collection of BU/Proof Ikes in a like new album and borrowed several of the Ike References from a club member. Since June1 I have cherried two type 2's and one Friendly Eagle all in BU. A BU claw head and FE were already in the album and the dealer had no clue. Are you in the Ike group? If so, I may join just to be a member of your club.
We feel lucky every day
I'm here for enjoyment, and learning. When it becomes clear that I will get neither enjoyment nor useful knowledge from a member, I'll put that member on "ignore." I see no reason to be exposed to posts that are likely to be annoying. So I'm not.
I'm way too old to worry about being "tough." One of the few benefits of being old is that I care about very few things anymore; it's quite liberating. Happiness in matters that I can affect is high on the list of things I still care about.
