Best dealer to sell to at upcoming FUN show in Orlando?

Hello everyone. I hope to attend the upcoming fun show in Orlando in July and have a few modern date slabbed MS/DCAM 70 gold coins that I’d like to sell in order to buy some ‘want list’ coins. Is there dealer/anyone in particular I should seek out for the optimum sales price? I took a few coins to the Tampa show last year and as soon as I sold a few of my duplicates I started seeing much higher ‘buyers’ all around the bourse…that magically seemed to pop up. (The story of my life…LOL). So, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Why not sell them prior to the show?
Those sound like coins that should be liquid, sight-unseen and most buyers might not give you as much time at the show as they otherwise would.

Actually, I found Heritage to have the best prices for modern date slabbed MS/DCAM 70 gold coins at the Winter FUN show. And as Mark said, there were other dealers who didn't want to be bothered with them.
Whoever advertises that they pay "top dollar!"
No such thing, because relative bids will ebb and flow with specific dealers' wants and needs. As @MFeld said, with modern slabbed coins, you can always get quotes, and don't need to wait for a national show.
If you are waiting anyway, your best move will be to thoroughly survey the bourse once you are there before pulling the trigger. Because heading straight to whatever table the forum recommends in May when you hit the show in July is as likely to yield the exact same result you achieved in Tampa as not. Good luck!!
Okay…I’ll just take my chances when I get there. While I love the looks of the modern gold coins, I’d rather have a nice 16D, or 1893S, or maybe even a 1907 High relief $20 St. Gaudens that has some numismatic history behind them. I’m past the breakeven point of my purchases now so at least I’m not going to take a hit on anything. Thanks everyone!
Based on a tip I received six months ago on this forum for the same question but for Winter FUN, I got an excellent price from Orlando Coin Exchange. I sold them about $33k worth of Modern Gold PCGS MS70 and PR70DCAM. They’ll be at Summer FUN table #’s 1025, 1027, and 1029.

Thanks Steve! Much appreciate the tip! Every little bit counts! Karl
You can email them a list in advance to get a quote based on that days gold price. It’s ok to shop around. If you’re pleased, then see them in July. Let us know the end result.

I certainly will. Again, thanks for the tip! Karl
Honestly, I think you'd be better served getting a list together like @MFeld recommended, and start seeking quotes via email. You can accomplish what you would surveying the bourse for half a day in about 10 minutes by sending one email to 20 dealers. Those coins are high liquid but very low margin, and at a national show dealers are going to be fairly busy and you'll probably get offered melt by most of them if they're busy. It's easier to price coins like that in the office, on a computer during a weekday.
Though if you're looking for cash, or are uncomfortable shipping them first, then I would say the show is the best option. You just don't know where spot will be at that time either, vs deciding to execute a sale gold is at an all time high. YMMV.

Thanks….I actually went to a local dealer here in Hollywood yesterday and got right under melt for a few pieces. It was more than I paid for them, so at least that was good. Just want some cash to buy at the show. Karl
When I sold my modern gold at the show to Orlando Coin Exchange, I received ABOVE melt. I had spoken to them about a week before the show, and got a quote based on gold at that time, and I felt comfortable for the graded coins I had that they would indeed pay that amount above melt. At this time, I don't remember how much above melt they paid, but it was good.
Gold had risen between the time of my quote from them a week before the show and the show itself, and they based their actual purchase price on the price of gold at the time of the actual transaction, so I was happy. Subsequently, gold rose more the following days and weeks, but one should not "second-guess". As both @PeakRarities and i suggest, shop around, and to avoid shipping expenses (and risk), shop around in advance with dealers who will be at the show. You can get a list by going to funtopics.com.
Good luck!
