Antique Coin Cufflinks - Junk or Treasure?

I found these cufflinks in the same box. They appear to have coin-like symbols and are about the size of a quarter. Anyone recognize these?

The top piece is from the US Army Signal Corps and it's a screw-back military insignia collar disc. The bottom is a US Army Engineer A-Company collar disc. Neither are coins.
