Incredible Trade Gets a Major Grade Bump From CACG

I really just wanted to share the video here, but the coin did get a massive bump.
To be fair, I think it's a liner DCAM and 68+ does seem to fit better. I'll update the thread with CAC's images when they go live, but for now here's the video of the coin.

Went from 68CAM to 68+DCAM.

The surfaces on that Trade are crazy nice!
It's incredible that it's been conserved in this condition for all these years...

It's unbelievably stunning.
Looking at the video- this one totally is worthy of the bump up in grade and designation.
Is this one of the finest Trade dollars known?
Where has @tradedollarnut been lately?

I believe top 5 just off of grades alone. I have a hunch it might move up or down a little based on the individual grader and the standards that each person has.
Wow! Beautiful piece going from 68CAM to 68+DCAM is a major league upgrade. Congrats!
Nice coin, I'm sure the owner is happy.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Just to be clear I'm quite certain DLH is the owner, given the label and whatnot.
Beautiful coin. I’d buy his dupe but $150k is just silly
Nice to have you in this thread!
I miss your postings and musings.
What would be a fair price for this Trade?

I think he meant this one:

@tradedollarnut is of course THE expert at pricing that type of coin. Just to have fun and guess what his answer will be...I think he says it's worth well under $100k. Maybe $85k?

68cam is worth $125k
68+dcam probably $200k+
67+dcam somewhere around $75k. I’m buying 67+cams for $35-45k
With that said, the pops are low enough that you can ask what you want. Doesn’t mean you’ll get it - the 67+ has been for sale for a year
I was lucky and made this 68cam for a $55k investment

I'd love to see these photos too!

Well that was weird
67+ cam for $45k
THESE are the ones that I would put away, when they have the original concentric toning framing the contrast of the bust. That one looks especially frosty for '79, from that picture I could see it going DCAM. I weep thinking about all the CAMs that looked like that, subsequently dipped so they could upgrade to DCAM. My one wish would be that the grading services wouldn't punish original coins because the luster or frost is "trapped" under the patina.

Yes I like the concentric colored coins a lot - but a flashy slightly golden tint with cartwheel effect also drives me nuts
67+ cam for $35k.
Point being that there’s a hierarchy of prices. Yes a dcam is worth more but not $100k more
Thats insane. Wow.

So what is it that causes this particular type of toning? Mint issued tissue paper storage?

Which coin are you asking about?

I should have specified- This type:

Collector, occasional seller
Yes, I think that the tissue paper is the most likely source of that type of toning.

Yes. Mint tissue with other coins shielding the larger coin from oxygen to react with the sulfur in the tissue
A beautiful coin. I would love to see it in hand.
