What is dental gold worth?

I just had 3 crowns replaced and was wondering,,,,,,,,

Is there an average purity that is used?

I have 5 grams.

    Overheard at a recent show that dental gold usually assayed at around 8K.

    I was at a coin shop yesterday and they told me dental gold was 16-18K. I didn’t have it with me or I would have sold it

    The older stuff is usually 16kt, the more recent stuff a bit less, also my refinery will no longer take the white dental as they have had a lot of problem with dentalite or other additives mixured in.

    Turns out my dental gold was only 10k but it got me a cool $285.

    My dentist wanted to keep it for themselves. She said they use it to pay for the office Christmas party.

    Dental gold is much purer than .416. It is between 65-70% pure. Whoever convinced you it was 42% pure just said that to avoid paying a fairer market value of $360. Of course, $285 is more than fair since 5 grams of 10k is only worth $225.

    Well he had an XRF Gun I think it is called that he showed me the reading and it said 10K.

    Actually I had 7.4 grams. I had a 3rd piece.
