Please help me with my scans!

Thanks for the advice the people here on the board have given me so far, but I still have a dilemma. I have been able to post some scans on the Registry, but my scans are very large and not very sharp. I've seen some of other scans there and the pictures are smaller and clearer. Any suggestions on how I can get my scans to the right size? Thanks for the help!

    Download Paintshop Pro.
There is a resize option that is easy to use/understand.
You can also sharpen the picture etc.

Thanks, carew, for the suggestion. Is PaintShop Pro available as shareware? Also, is there any other program that is free that would work?

As of 1 year ago there was a shareware PSP. Very feature rich.

Try Tucows.com for other shareware/freeware stuff.

You shouldn't have to fiddle with an image to make it look good. Any reasonable scanner should do a good job. You change the size of the eventual image by change the dpi. Example:

That's 96 dpi. If I wanted a larger image, I would have used 200 dpi, and it would be twice as big.

Bruce, thanks a million, your advice worked. I lowered the dpi to 75 and all is well in scansville.
