value guess needed: binary quad double $1

DennisHDennisH Posts: 14,009 ✭✭✭✭✭

A fellow coin club member got this in circulation. It's in rough shape, including paper loss, a tear, folds and wear.

He's a longtime token specialist and I'm a Morgan dollar VAM nerd (sounds like the start of a bad joke), so even between us we have zero clue about what this might be worth.

Any estimates and comments would be much appreciated!

When in doubt, don't.

It’s cool, but the condition and damage almost relegates it to face value.
It’s possible that it might garner $10.00 on Planet eBay but that hardly seems like it’s worth the effort. I know that it’s something that I wouldn’t want in my collection.

    Agree with Steve
With that piece missing, it wouldn’t even make a Good grade.
Most collectors of banknotes (unless it is very rare) like them in uncirculated condition.
Personally I wouldn’t pay over face for it as it’s something that has no value in my collection.

I think you've gotten your answer but I just wanted to commend you on your photos. They are clear, concise, in the proper direction, front and back and even a good back round color.

Binary serial notes can hold significant collector value.

In 66 or 67 grade it sells for $20 tops.
