Interesting Registry problem with Swiss specimen, or "SP," coins

I just ran into an interesting problem when I tried to add a Swiss specimen coin to my Registry set. The coin - a 1952 1/2 franc graded as SP 68 CAM - cannot be entered in the Swiss 1/2 franc specimen registry set. I have written to Collectors Club for some help, but haven't heard back yet.

I am guessing the problem lies with the cameo designation. Swiss 1/2 franc specimen cameos are apparently rare: PCGS has graded only 5, while the total non-cameos is 329.

Anybody ever encountered anything like this and, if so, were you able to get it fixed?

  • Have you tried to add it to the set using the 'Report a Cert That Should Match This Composite' function in the registry. It will take a while for them to respond (they took over two weeks recently to add one of mine). But they generally do respond eventually to that. You can also see the request in your 'activity' page once the request is made. Sorry if you already know this, but in your question you said you had written to them for help, rather than applied for the coin to be added. Anyway, good luck - I appreciate that it can be frustrating having to wait for a response from the set registry team at this time.

Currently looking for Great Britain only George V coins.
