Help with a coin I inherited in my grandpas Collection? (PART 2 Gold Coins)

You all helped so much with the trade dollar so I figured I would share these cool old gold coins that were in one of the pill bottles. Just started researching them, looks like nothing special but still cool

If if they are "nothing special" there is plenty of gold value there!
The 1834 is worth more than the others. Still several thousand dollars worth of gold.
I love the random stuff he had! Mostly Silver Roosies but then the trade dollar, these gold and 4 little half dimes are dirty but kinda cool
is the first picture $2.50 gold and the second picture $5 gold? (the reverse tells you the denomination)
Yes Top one is $2.5 and bottom is $5, I can take pics of the backs tonight for fun
Assuming first picture is $2.50 gold and second picture is $5 gold. The current gold value alone is:
9390= 3510
7780= 5460
Total $8,970
See: https://www.coinflation.com/gold_coin_values.html
Even 40 or so years ago the $2 1/2 Indians had a real premium over melt, now the EF pieces like that not so much.
Thank you, Just really cool old coins for sure
the 1834 is so common and low grade it's worth only gold value?
Not true offer anyone their choice same price they’ll pick the Classic every time.
About Capped Head Gold Half Eagles: Although minted in relatively high quantities, historical circumstances at the time led to the removal of gold, particularly Half Eagles, from circulation. The result: the existing Capped Head Half Eagle (1813-1834) population is extremely limited, making examples from this series some of the most difficult to obtain as a collector. Full of rarities, the 1822 Capped Head Half Eagle is the pinnacle, considered one of the most valuable of all regular-issue US coins.
Take a good look at the 1911 quarter eagle reverse.
The possible 'D' mintmark isn't always obvious.
Those are special, they aren't "nothing special".
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
Those come from a time when we had real coins in circulation.
A good thing to put aside for future use sorta speaks (retirement, emergency etc, etc)
I love them! Definitely not something I would have thought about collection BUT now I think I have a bug to add to his collection hahah
I will take pictures of the back when i get home
Of the quarter eagles, @thebeav is right about the 1911.
And the 1913 $2.50 is lustrous and deserves a close look, as do the 1904 and the 1907 on the left side of the photo.
$5:
The 1834 is worth more than melt.
Does the 1876 have a mintmark?

I don’t blame you. That’s a terrific starting point. They’re quite addicting.
The obverse has the wire rim from 12 o'clock to 5 o'clock that is a characteristic found on the 1911-D G$2.5.

I dont see any D but I will upload, I see the "weak D" pics and i dont see a D there either haha "How do you tell haha?"

That awesome 👍. I would say hold on to them, gold prices still going up. And despite the gold it is a nice piece of history both American and family.

ok
what's it worth with all that wear?
Not $40k
that doesn't rule out $1million
Sounds like he held onto them for quite awhile, if they were stored in a pill bottle, and he hadn't needed to dip into them for any expenses.
That's pretty cool. Hopefully, hard to tell from the pics, they are unmolested and original.
Some of them look pretty cool, and all together they are cool.
Tough time to be adding to them though, given gold prices
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
.
Nice group of gold.
Based on the earlobe having the characteristic divot, it is an 1876-S (San Francisco) $5 (only the S-mint has that).
Here is one (with similar wear, but better color) that sold at Heritage Auctions for $4,800 in 2022:

The 1880 does not look so great, but there will be a little bonus if it has a "CC" mint mark on the back. Otherwise, it is still worth its weight in gold.

The weak D on some 1911’s is nearly impossible if not totally impossible to see. There’s a few markers on the coin that distinguish it as a 1911 ‘weak D’. I was looking at several a few months ago and there was NO visible indication of a D that I could ascertain at all…but PCGS and NGC had graded them as such…and the markers were there so I guess that’s the only way to tell on them. Good luck!
