Player buys his own cards from you?

Just curious if anyone else has ever had an athlete from any sport notice your set collection of him and contact you to purchase the items from you? I had a guy make an offer and buy out my registry set of him a couple years back since he figured it would be an easy way to get most of his own cards in one shot. I suppose it makes a good deal of sense and thought I'd ask if it happens more often than I realized?

A former NHL player, but I would not want to post his name without consent in this case.

I had a retired baseball player reach out. He was a pitcher more popular as a prospect and played for the Yankees for a short while. The address matched where he was born or went to high school. It was cool.

I've not had a player reach out for his own card but I did have an MLB player buy a PSA 10 1970 common I listed on eBay. He had/has one of the top ranked sets.
