Looking for info regarding Damage type/ cause on SBA

I recently open a 25$ mint bag of SBA coins of which maybe a dozen showed spots of corrosion discoloration and marks including a lot of parallel lines on one side either obverse or reverse with the other side and the remaining 90 something coins being mint but all pretty heavily toned any information on cause / type would be appreaciated

That is interesting, I have never seen that before.

The bag may well have gotten wet or damp at some point.

  • Yes but the damage was restricted completely to a few of the one hundred coins with absolutely no corrosion shown on the remainder

    ..Which might reaffirm my guess.

If it got wet on the bottom, for example, only those coins touching the wet canvas might be affected.

In any case, all anyone can do is guess. They're suffering from environmental damage.
