Need Help of Pricing this!

My father-in-law just passed and my wife is inheriting some silver. Not a silver collector so trying to get an idea about this box of silver. Can anyone chime in give an idea of how much this box is worth? Does it have more value left as is when trying to sell or does that matter. Does opening it lower the value. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I have no idea, but I have a few thoughts. Is this a “monster box?” You might put that in the title and also make sure you put a similar post in the bullion forum.
Best of luck and condolences on your father-in-law.
It is called a Monster Box, and it has 500oz of Silver Eagles inside, so 500 Eagles. I would keep it sealed, as you'd get more money with it unopened.

As David stated, it is a monster box and contains 25 rolls of American Eagle silver coins. Each roll contains 20 coins. Value is ballpark $17,500.
Sorry about your loss.
Jack Hunt publishes buy and sell prices for/to dealers. For 2025 coins they SELL a monster box to a dealer for $3.29 over spot. Assuming that you could get the same for yours with spot at $34.17 that's $34.17 + $3.29 = $37.46 x 500 = $18730.Now you know a dealer is going to add $4 per coin to his sell price making your box close to $21,000 if you were to sell at "retail' .
I think your $34.76 should be $37.46 ?

TY. Seems like I'm great at dyslexic typos.
Sounds like a great time to become a silver collector. Is she the sole heir? If not I'd open the box and give each heir their share of the 25 rolls to do whatever they wanted with them. Keep her share for a rainy day. Like my dear old dad used to say "They won't eat no oats".
Don’t open the box! Cutting the tapes will cost you money.
Some dealer or collector will pay you a premium for its unopened state.

My wife and her sister are the heirs. There are 7 monster boxes with one of them opened. Thanks.
Looks like they struck silver!
