The official Philadelphia Phillies 2025 season thread

stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

"Decent" opening day win against an inferior team. Phillies gave the Nationals too many chances to win this game, not a good sign. However the Phillies hung in there to win the game in extra innings, which is what better teams should do.

Philly has a beautiful Super Bowl win under its belt. Sure would be nice to follow that with a World Series win.

    NL East:

Marlins in first place at 3-1
Braves in last place at 0-4

    That's a weirdy.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Braves were the MLB 2nd favorite odds to win the World Series. Now at 0-5 they sure have dug themselves an early hole.

Phillies now in NL East first place at 3-1.

Its still early and the Braves have been decimated by injuries, I wouldnt count them out. They literally have basically a minor league outfield right now with Acuna out and crappy Profar getting a PED suspension. Its never a good sign when Profar was going to be your 2nd best OFer though

    Phillies with another good win.

Braves now at 0-7 losing tonight from a walk-off home run by Shohei Ohtani.

Dodgers now at 8-0. The way they are playing, all the other teams in the NL may only be playing this season for second place.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Big three game series at home, starting tonight against the Dodgers.

I'd gladly take winning two out of three.

If the Phillies win, I'm elevating this to Post of the Month.

    Good call. 👍

Frankly, I thought the Dodgers were going to win this game. The Dodgers have been red hot. I would have been fine winning one out of three for the series. Now I'm thinking sweep. LOL

But I'll be fine winning two out of three against this tough team, that is a strong favorite to repeat as WS champs.

You've got a chance to do it today around 4:05 pm. Bookies have it as a dead even coin flip, at -110 each. If anything, I think the Phillies might be a tad over-bet.

I'm not calling the game, way too tough in my view. But I'd love to see the Phillies take two straight from the Dodgers. Would be some early season enjoyment.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Very good sign with the Phillies taking two out of three from the Dodgers.

Should bode well for a good season...I hope. 😊

Ugly series against the Mets. Phillies can't seem to get a timely hit to save their life.

Long way to go, but they need to start playing better or this season may get away from them.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Phillies have been playing erratically, but only 4 games out, so I can't complain too much.

However they do need to tighten things up a bit.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Phillies now only 2.5 games back.

    Still not playing great baseball.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies suffered a major blow to their bullpen on Sunday, when Major League Baseball suspended José Alvarado 80 games without pay following a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance.

Yea, it was going too good. I knew the sports gods wouldn't allow Philly to win a Super Bowl, and then a World Series, back to back. 😒

Eh! But too early in the season to worry just yet! Things could be worse - you could be a Guardians fan :D

Nice to see the Phillies in first place over the Mets.

Still a lot of season left, and in no way, shape, or form am I counting out the Braves yet.

Bryce Harper had X-rays come back negative for any fractures on his elbow injury.

Harper was diagnosed with a right elbow contusion. He appears to have avoided a serious injury and is day-to-day for now.

Phillies in a bit of a tailspin.

Need to snap out of it quickly.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Phillies have righted the ship and now playing some better baseball.

Braves have almost dropped out of it.

Still a long way to go.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Good to see the Phillies take 2 outa 3 from the Mets. Phillies regain the lead in the NL East.

Looks like it's gonna be a dogfight the rest of the season. The Braves have been slowly inching up, although still 10 games back.

    Long way to go.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Mets in a bit of a tailspin at 2-8 in their last 10 games.

Lot of crazy chit going on in New York City with the upcoming mayor race, which of course we won't discuss here. Suffice to say, right now on Polymarket, the favorite at 75%, pledges to dramatically increase taxes on the rich. Which may hinder the ability of the Mets and Yankees to sign future players.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Phillies holding on to the NL East lead at 1.5 games.

Marlins just passed the Braves for third place in the NL East. Who woulda thunk that midway thru the season?

"Atlanta Braves: +100000 (bet $10 to win $10,010 total)"

Almost unbelievable how the Braves were the preseason favorite to win the NL East, and are now a 1000-1 hopeless long shot.

If you desire betting $10 on the Braves to win the World Series. I would suggest tying a $10 bill to a pigeon's leg and watching it fly off. 💸

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Phils up by a half game over the pesky Mets. I wish the Mets would soon revert back to their 1962 season.

The dogfight for the NL East continues.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Phillies have jumped out to a decent 2.5 game lead.

Mets are in a bit of a tailspin with a 3-7 record in their last ten games. Is Jerry Koosman available?

    Now at + 3.5 games.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Braves now 18 games out and obviously headed to oblivion.

    Still hard to believe.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Mets are 1-9 in their last 10 starts.

If only Marv Throneberry was still available.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭✭

Excuse me, Phillies now up by 4.5 games.

Mets are asking if Casey Stengel has a great grandson who might be interested in managing their team.

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 31,877 ✭✭✭✭✭

The Braves are like the Cowboys, contender talk until they actually play the games lol

    I'm sorry, it's 5.5 games.

The Mets front office now in touch with Darryl Strawberry.

I would count it as 2.5 as the Phils still have another 3 games in Milwaukee. Mets are 0-6 this season and Phils are 0-3 so far. Good luck.

    They didn't play.

Hopefully, Wheeler's clot issue can be resolved non-surgically. If they have to do a catheter, that's six weeks plus rehab.

Nola had a rough first start back.

Gotta turn Red October into Red November (if necessary).

Phils catching some bad breaks at the wrong time. But Wheeler's condition is too dangerous to fool around with. Those covid vaccine induced blood clots, if it was that, can kill you. One of my first cousins, healthy as a clam, didn't drink or smoke, never did drugs, always in good shape, star pitcher in college, 58 years old, suddenly dropped dead of a heart attack. His wife, including me, are convinced it was from the covid vaccine.

  • bgrbgr Posts: 2,701 ✭✭✭✭✭

    from AI: Bottom Line

Vaccines (particularly adenovirus-based) may very rarely cause a clotting disorder (TTS/VITT), but this risk is extremely low—on the order of 1 in a million.

In contrast, COVID-19 infection carries a much higher risk of clots and other severe complications.

For mRNA vaccines (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna), there is no evidence of increased clotting risk.

The overwhelming medical consensus remains that vaccination is far safer than risking COVID-19, and any concerns should be discussed with a healthcare provider.

I think you should share how you came to that conclusion to the world. The concept of just forming an opinion and then assuming it's true is applicable to so many different problems.

Well I merely looked it up and that’s what AI said. It’s not my BS. If you have information about vaccines that the world doesn’t have you shouldn’t keep that life-saving information to yourself. That’s unconscionable.

My point is that your argument isn’t with me. It’s with the world. I’m not a vaccine expert but I can read.
