SGC now 15-20 day turnaround

Just noticed on their site they've posted a note saying turnaround is now 15-20 days instead of 10.

I wonder what's created the issue there for them. Short handed on the graders, suddenly slammed with business or something else?

Never sent them anything until the beginning of this month. My timing was perfect. I guess I'm not the only vintage collector who's tired of the PSA game...

Natural progression as more people venture over to them instead of PSA. But, as the shift in popularity increases, so will the waiting times.

Wow, that stinks. I mean comparing to others its not so bad. But I sent in like 4 times and it was like clockwork. They say 5 to 10 days and it was 5 days without fail. That was a nice feeling. They would acknowledge they received it very early too. You put it in the mail and 3 days later they say they have it, and back then 5 day countdown begins. Bummer.

*Due to a significant increase in submission volumes, SGC has temporarily extended its expected turnaround time to 15 to 20 days.

Most businesses figure out how to adapt to an increased demand in business without impacting the customer in a huge way. I have confidence they'll figure it out.

I noticed this last submission of mine has been slower. Been sitting in received for about 8-9 days

Same here. My last 2 orders have taken a bit longer. Could be the specials they've been running the past few months. No complaints, still much quicker than PSA.

Mine did that too and since this was my first one I just assumed that was their SOP. It took 2 weeks before it even showed as Received.

I'm not complaining about this because it's still lighting-quick comparably but I just thought it was an interesting thing.

Possibly, with increased popularity, comes price increases?

I watched a video that they put up and they are currently running 2 specials that they have decided to end on April 4th. They are getting many more submissions from the specials and coming back from shows loaded with more submissions. They are running about 5 business days behind, but to cover them in the future they pushed it out to 15-20 days. They stated most are getting done in 13-14 days. I'd much rather know all of this in advance than wondering what month I may see my cards coming back.

The intrusion of economics has been part of card grading for quite a while. It's entirely possible, but hopefully they stay reasonable.

    Is one the 70s/80s special?

Since this is my first submission I was waiting to see how the grading went but was planning on doing another if they came back as I hoped. Now maybe I'll get them ready before seeing the return.

When will we be able to add SGC cards to our PSA registry sets? That will slow turn-around times at SGC for sure!!

I wish grading companies graded tickets in 15-20 days.

Spoke to them today and they seem confident 15 to 20 days is temporary. Dropping off some stuff tomorrow and beginning my countdown.

My last order was received on March 4. That has me sitting at 19 business days or at 31 calendar days. Was thinking to follow up Monday if nothing has moved

This order moved to Post Grading today - 35 days in

I just sent an order & it said 20 days - not 15 to 20.

My first sub to PSA in more than 6 years I handed over in person on March 12, Only Today April 10 it was "checked in".

SGC is still extremely speedy compared to PSA but this is worrying. I sure hope SGC did not have staffed trimmed after their acquisition last year!

Just got my very first subs back from SGC this week and it went great. Took a bit longer than 15-20 days but still way shorter than any order I've ever done at PSA.

It went so smoothly that I've already sent 2 more and am preparing 2 more to go. I'm a big fan of how the cards look in their holders too.

For my taste, I think PSA has decided to focus so exclusively on modern/ultra-modern that they've lost interest in the vintage. I even understand that as a business decision but it means they've unfortunately lost me as a customer (they probably don't care about that either :'( ).

If you use SGC then Collector's Universe has lost nothing :)

If They combine PSA and SGC registries then I've a ton of cards I'd love to send to SGC. Until then however they will remain raw.

    Yeah, I know...

I'd also love if PSA would just let SGC do the vintage but stick them in the same holder. My collecting life would be so much easier and cleaner.

How were your grades compared to what you thought they should be? Been thinking about sending an order in too but curious if they've also tightened up the grades.

Grades were about what I'd expected. It was vintage and there were quite a few 4-6s, but those were all ones I'd bought from collections, etc... No 9s/10s but some 8.5s. I was hoping for higher on some I'd pulled from vending and wax but overall I was satisfied.
