I'm curious what you all would say PCGS has graded my 1882-O/S Morgan. Would appreciate comments why you assigned the grade you did or what holds it back from the next higher grade.

MS65. These usually come with way worse strikes. Nice coin.

    1. I am in a position to offer a higher grade based on the images. I am not confident that the coin is accurately captured by the image provided.

If it helps, the photos are trueviews and I believe the photos are accurate. The coin is not overly lustrous. There are blotches of "light grime" that probably take away from eye appeal but I don't know that I would call it negative eye appeal. Maybe slightly negative or neutral eye appeal.

I meant to write “I am not in a position to offer a higher grade…”

I have concerns about the surfaces as well.

It is a reasonable example for the variety

    63+ could 64.

That is VERY nice for the variety. Something about that die pair just did not move the metal around much, soft devices.

Beautiful coin, satiny with no distracting marks though doesn't appear terribly lustrous. Reverse is strong strike though on the obverse Liberty's hair appears a bit weak above the ear. I'd guess MS64.

Nice looking coin with the over MM plainly visible. Ok luster, weak obverse strike. MS64.

As others have said it's difficult to assign grades from images. That being said 64+. No higher because maxed out at that grade.

    Many happy BST transactions

I'm going 64+. The coin has beautiful luster. I just think the rub marks and a few minor dings hold it back.

My guess is MS64 or UNC details altered surface (there are some funny scrapes on chin/cheek)

Average Unc. or possibly "cleaned". I've been faked out on coins that I think should go gem but are not "original", where the graders see things they don't like.

I cannot tell a 64+ from a 65 but that is the range i would guess. James

**MS64 ** which most of you got. I thought it was a little nicer and some of you think so too, but I think the consensus is clear, PCGS has it right at 64. Thanks for all of the replies guys.
