Your thoughts on Pelican boxes?

I went to a small coin show a couple weeks ago. At one of the tables, a guy was selling these Pelican boxes. The pitch was that the boxes have an air-tight seal, which is a good way to protect your valuable coins.

I know that coin capsules tend to be air-tight, as are screw-top and snap-top tubes. My understanding is that holders for slabbed coins also tend to be air-tight. So is anyone using (or see a need to use) Pelican-type boxes for an added layer of air-tightness?

You would lose a ton of space storing coins using those cases. If you're worried about air, put your slabbed coins in double box intercept shield holders, and raw coins in intercept shield 2x2 boxes.

The only purpose i would see for those cases is if i was travelling and wanted something more robust than a PCGS coin box to carry some higher value coins in.

Many sports card collectors use these to transport their high end graded cards to shows. Usually in hopes to sell them.

Interesting. There were no card collector tables at the show I attended, but maybe some of the same people who collect coins also collect cards. I see a better use case for cards than for coins.
