Doesn't look like much in terms of value but still an interesting group. I am most surprised at how many 2009 cents you found, as I almost never see them in circulation. What are the dates of the wheat cents you found?

If you are looking for varieties, I've found that it helps to group coins by year and mintmark. Then, one group at a time, learn about the various varieties for that group and search again [with more focus].

Not if that's what he likes to do.
Filling Lincoln cent books is what I like doing, my daughter is getting into it too and we are starting to fill a book together her and I. Making memories and having something more to be proud of is never a waste of time, no matter how others think of it.

Actually, they are selling at a premium on Ebay all day long my friend. Also filling a book for Canadians too so it's actually pretty fun. It's going to take awhile to fill the book up at this rate though lol.

Surprisingly, I threw a handful of 2009's back into circulation, the nastier ones, so those aren't even all of what I found. As for the wheaties,
1929-d+p,1941-s, 1919-p, 1937+38-p+d, and a ton of 40-50's

Also an estimated 450 copper cents added to my collection. Which is a minuscule seeming $12-$13 of melt value. But I had fun doing it, I can't lose money doing it, and cooper's melt value only goes up! If I hunted 2 boxes every month for a year, it would average out to equal to $150 of copper's CURRENT melt value.

If you worked 2 hours per week at Starbucks, at the end of the year you'd have $1500 that you could actually invest and would compound in value. If you have fun, fine. But you are losing money on the cents since almost any other activity would earn more.

I found this in a box of cent rolls and recently gave it away here, you never know what you will find.
Curious as to how that fit in a coin roll.
It really is not that 'uncircular', @habaraca is the new owner of this coin, perhaps he could take a pic of a normal cent sitting on top of this one.

Not bad really. You should get a Lincoln folder and see how far you can get from circulation.

Yup, get that crucible full of cents up to 2000 degrees and melt away. How ya planning to do that

Some people roll/box search for enjoyment. It can also be done while watching or listening to TV.
It can also be a form of "numismatic meditation".
Two hours a week dealing with Starbuck's customers would hardly be relaxing. 😄
Have fun with your coins. Have fun in your life.

There is also the incalculable excitement of finding something very special in a box or roll.
I'll have a lifetime of fond memories from finding my big score in a box of nickels.
As i said, if it's fun, fine. But one shouldn't try to make an economic argument for stacking thousands of copper cents
Fantastic

Nothing in 2025 circulation searching beats the fun us old timers had looking at change in the early 60s.
