It has come to my attention that I tend to overexpose things. I get used to taking pics of shiny, silver and toned coins. That same technique doesn't work for bronze medals.
I may need to back up and punt.
Which do you prefer. I think I know.

Yes, the bottom pair.
nice details in the images which is no easy task given the subject matter. If the goal is to show off the detail and artistic merit, there is an argument that the first set accomplishes that. However, if the goal is to capture the essence of the medal, it is not close and the second set is clearly better.

Dialed it down even more. I'm going to have to play with it more.
These types of medals are really great and often show off the great work of the engravers
