... also commemorating the police officers who lied under oath plus the FBI informants who also entered the building and were not prosecuted. IMO, the only good thing about that medal is its very attractive design.
Other than @fiftysevener 's slightly more subtle political comment, this thread has dodged raindrops and stayed pretty apolitical. Impressive considering the topic.
Why am I not surprised this poster decided to air his political views inappropriately?
I see very few apolitical posts on this thread. They are almost all political, though mostly subtle. What do you think the references to Ft Sumter and DOGE are?
Throw em all in jail I say. The Collectors Universe U.S. Coin Forum is no place for politics. RGDS!
If the U.S. Coin Forum is no place for politics...why are so many coins covered with politicians/presidents ? You can only mention details of George Washington's bust, but do not mention why he's being honored on the quarter and what he stood for? It's okay to put the Capitol or Lincoln Memorial on coins and medals, but do not mention what happens inside those institutions ? I agree, this is no place for political arguments, but sometimes politics are just a natural spin on some of our designs.
But the question of what is worthy of honor is at issue. There are legitimate debates about whether statues who honor certain individuals should be removed or allowed to remain, and this is on "both sides". This is the same issue but involves coins and/or medals. Readers here may be split on the Jan 6th medals but I have to think that honoring Jackie Robinson and Navajo Code Talkers would be less controversial. Should we be cancelling all of these coins and medals after Congress (our representatives) authorized them on our behalf? What do you think?
Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

My latest for the ANA, which is on this very topic: https://readingroom.money.org/controversy-surrounds-january-6-medals/
The title of this thread is misleading. The item in question is for sale; however, the marketing language has been revised.

Hmmm, how can I make a political statement without making a political statement....................

"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
This was a very good way to drum up support for a medal, maybe they should pull the Kabul medal for a few weeks and alert the press about it.
I'm shocked this thread is still open and no one was jailed. I did a two week stretch for talking politics on the PM forum.

I think that we are keeping it civil.
