It's going to be a long time I suspect before I can contribute much of anything to these posts of yours haha.

Some Cyprus coins from the 1950's:

    image
    Cyprus 3 Mils 1955
    They didn't make a 1 Mils then

    image
    Cyprus 5 Mils 1956

    image
    Cyprus 25 Mils 1955

    image
    Cyprus 50 Mils 1955

    image
    Cyprus 100 Mils 1955

And a couple of older coins:

    image
    Cyprus 1/2 Piastre 1949

    image
    Cyprus 45 Piastres 1928

And an even older coin from Cyprus:

    image
Crusader Kingdom of Cyprus, gros grande, (AD 1324-1359)
Silver, 25 mm, 4.63 gm, Mint: Famagusta
Hugh IV de Lusignan (AD 1324-1359), King of Cyprus and Jerusalem

    Obverse:
King on throne facing front and holding orb and scepter
HVGVE - REI DE (Hugh king of)
    Reverse:
Jerusalem Cross with +IERVSALM ED CHIPR (Jerusalem and Cyprus)

The Crusades were over when this coin was minted but Hugh claimed to be the King of Jerusalem anyway.

OK, I have a 1913 9 piasters that needs to be seen. Graded by the hosts...

Cyprus by the way is one of the most beautiful of Mediterranean destinations...So wonderful and so very much history. Politically it seems to continue quiet after the ridiculous upheavals and "Enosis" nonsense of the 60s and 70s.
When I saw the title of this post it immediately took me back to living there...

Clio, there's nothing wrong with buying a Cyprus coin and posting it here

Willie. Lovely coins. The mils are nice (and affordable too) as are the piastres but it's the crusader coin which is super cool. Unfortunately they are too expensive for me ( or should I say my wife :D ) atm in high grade.

    7J, post that sucker :D

    Peace

I really like this one and can’t remember where I got it. Might go for a lot at the right auction venue but not for sale
