My significant other wanted to take me to a coin show

She said it was in an advertisement we received in the mail.
I think we will be going bowling instead...

You should hit the parking lot and offer folks to buy at fair prices after the thieves inside lowball the heck out of them.

That is NOT a coin show. That is the hotel gold buyer scam.

Maybe another reminder to liquidate your collection before you pass away,
so it does not get taken to a "show" like this.
I once asked my wife if she wanted to go to a coin show. She said that she not interested...until the silver bug bit her. I still grab her an occasional silver round, but she has yet to go with me to a show. Come to think of it, I don't think that i have asked her again.

My wife asked to go to a regional show with me so she could buy me something nice. She bought me a very nice Wreath cent. Dang. I think maybe we should drive to OK city in August. I need a Chain.
I did pretty good at one of those maybe 15 years ago selling around 100 90% dimes. Silver was around $28/oz (so whenever that was before this run up) and I got a little more than melt on them, which was good for my comparable options at the time.
I have no idea who they sold them to. If they made money on my stuff, then the next guy is still under water.
Haven't heard bout the scammers in a while, ain't been looking either. It don't surprise me there still out there
I attended one of those one time (about 12 years ago). Waited in line for three hours for them to offer me melt on a rare, raw coin in high-grade. I was livid. Hard lesson and never again will I go to anything like that. Can you imagine if I would’ve been a neophyte and agreed to their offer?? Scary stuff!! I think I saw a show warning people about them on Inside Edition a couple years later, as the haughty woman looked very familiar.

My one bank has had those "buyers" come in before. I like to visit the branch just after to scoop up all the 40% halves, Ike dollars etc that they won't buy and dump off in my bank.
Even though you didn’t want to attend, that was a very thoughtful gesture on the part of your significant other!

A few weeks ago I asked my wife what she would like for Valentine's Day? She said, “I’d like nothing better than a diamond bracelet!”
So I bought her nothing! 😂

These seem to pop up whenever precious metals are on a tear. May we all do our diligence so that our heirs can spot a ruse.

Even though I don't hide my purchases from my wife, I dot necessarily want her to see me in action.
I do agree with Mark. This was a super sweet gesture on your wife's part to take interest in your passion and want to share that with you.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
That was a nice offer. My wife would never do that, and when she asks what FedEx is delivering I just say something like, oh just a penny. I thought that saying a PCGS/CAC MS65 1859 Indian and a couple of PF Shield Nickels would just be TMI.
Hopefully you explained to her just why it's always a bad idea to go to such an event.
