Not a bad show at all, usually. We’ll have to see what happens with the ANA show just a short drive down I-75. SOME ENTITY, likely TWO ENTITIES, really made a mistake here. The hobby is robust, but not robust enough to split the dealers and attendees in half.
Chattanooga’s traffic load is highly dependent on from which direction you have to approach it. Coming from the west side is seldom a pleasant experience. The confluence of I-40 and I-59 is a crummy thing. Coming up from Atlanta via I-75 only gets bad when you get close in. I’m coming in to Atlanta via I-20 from Alabama. That’s actually less of a cluster than approaching Chattanooga from where I live.

Shame but I see more local dealers probably at TN and national guys supporting ANA. Hopefully both will be great shows. Scarsdale Coin set up at ANA. Booth 520

The good thing is there are a lot of solid local dealers mostly from the eastern Tennessee area that hit the whole circuit in that area. Makes for good shows. Some serious collectors clustered in that area as well.
The dealers I spoke to said it’s been a good show for them. One said better than Atlanta. My only pickup is a 20c in 63. First NGC I’ve gotten in a long time.
I did Atlanta for the entire weekend. My focus was the competitive exhibits. I had a HUGE workload, judging the two largest categories on Thursday, and Best in Show on Friday. Allen Berman DID fill four of the remaining openings in my 20th century shilling set. I also snagged a 1710 Queen Anne groat and a New Guinea shilling from Pete the Greek. I also picked up the latest “Kingdom of Bermania” fantasy coin, the Big Fig, which was released at NYINC this winter. The other pieces were miscellaneous ANA-related stuff like a challenge coin put out by Tom Uram, and the Exhibit Judge medal. The exhibiting winners were many of the usual suspects. More of the same. The quantity of exhibits exactly matched last year at Colorado Springs, right down to the count of cases.
I also found out that Whitman/Graysheet is making a commitment to keep the annual hardbound Red Book, but gradually sliding its release to later in the calendar year from its present April-ish date.

I hope to make it. I have probably been to all of the Spring shows since 1972.
Going to Atlanta
I wouldn’t mind going to that one but it’s about an hour shorter to Chat and it’s a day trip 😵💫
BHNC #248 … 130 and counting.
‘Nooga to Cobb County really is a completely insignificant drive.
Going to Atlanta
I guess I will be fighting the ATL traffic instead.
Chattanooga has been getting much worse for traffic but not on the same level as Atlanta for sure.

Hearing Atlanta is not very good from several people not even staying for Friday (collectors not dealers)
My perspective is that outside of ANA and FUN all shows are pretty interchangeable and enjoy any one I can get to.

Fortin reports his Atlanta sales are strong for today. Guess collectors like his stuff.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
He’s probably one of the more popular tables at that show

I’m planning to be there on Saturday. Will probably get there around 11. Hoping to sell more than I buy
Looking forward to your show report with @habaraca
Collector of Capped Bust Halves, SLQ's, Commems, and random cool stuff! @davidv_numismatics on Instagram
Have heard many dealers talking about both shows being subpar due to the close proximity to each other.
Definitely a lot less people here than usual. Not too many less dealers. Probably about 10 less than normal.

Well, I’ll be heading to TSNS in a little bit so at least one more person.
I’m here now. Hearing it’s been a good show for the most part. Im on the earlier side so foot traffic is a little light right now.
Lots of people on my social media are there today and weren't yesterday. Looks like it livened up a bit! Enjoy.

If PN is in TN that would be a good excuse to to to ATL.......
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
🤣
Ok ok I got you don’t worry

hey @Pnies20 I hear a picture is worth a THOUSAND WORDS.......
I think now is the appropriate time
