2000-P $1 Sacajawea Dollar Multi-Struck & Broad-Struck with a Reverse Shattered Die...

Jon Sullivan had offered me this Siiick piece about 10 years ago. I wonder where it resides now. I haven't seen or heard about it since. Probably should have purchased this Unique Error!

How many would get punched before employees notice and line shut down for new dies? or is there automatic detection and shut-down?

  • @davewesen, "While machines can detect major issues, human inspectors still play a role in visually examining coins, but even trained eyes can miss minor errors."
"Modern mints use advanced technology to identify certain types of errors, but these systems may not catch every potential issue."
I would think that Coins are produced in such a high volume it wouldn't be easy to accurately say how many occur before they notice.

I normally don't care for ATS holders, but I would make an exception on this one.

This one has extra tail feathers for sure. One great looking Sacagawea, and of course One of a Kind.

That is about as dramatic as modern errors get.

Wild stuff! As The Dude would say, that shattered reverse really ties the whole thing together.

It appears that this coin has a hole in it as struck at the edge of Sacagawea's forehead above her left eye. I'm also wondering if the wrongly colored bit approximately at the eagle's neck is an embedded piece of the reverse die.
