Are these pennies stamped wrong?

Good day everyone. This is my first posting. This website and forum has taught me a lot over time. So today I made my account and hope in some way at some point I might help or be informative in some small way.
Until then maybe you can help me. I have these 2 pennies. One is a 1956d. There seems to be some kind of a smear across Lincolns nose. Almost like in the shape of a leaf? What are your thoughts?
Also a 1944d penny. Lincolns head appears to have an indentation and small cracks going upwards.
I express my gratitude in advance for your thoughts

The 1944-D appears to have a lamination (peeled layer) on Lincoln's forehead.
The 1956-D has circulation damage on Lincoln's nose.

Agree with both answers, lamination and damage.

Good luck with your future collecting. The only suggestion I would make is that you refer to the manufacture of coins as "minted" rather than "stamped". It is a small thing but language is our tool here and that is the preference. Again. Best of luck in all things. James

wow Thank you both very much. This makes perfect cents. I can only hope someday I will be able to identify such things at a glance.
The 1956-D is the rare 'Pinocchio' variety!

Thank you James. I will note that. I appreciate any and all suggestions. I have a lot of silver coins from over the years and know nothing about them. They range from 1867-1964. My dad and I loved metal detecting together for about 25 years so collected a lot. He past away 4 years ago and I have a difficult time bringing myself to going without him. Now reminiscing with old finds and trying to learn about them
