Another Fake 09-SVDB Lincoln on Ebay (added mm)
Well, here is another fake 1909-S VDB with what appears to be an added mintmark. The "S" is misshapen and appears to not be one of the 4 mm positions on a genuine coin. Also, the "N" in "UNITED" on the reverse appears to be the "deep N" and not the "shallow N" on a genuine coin.
I reported the listing - hopefully if a few more of us report it, it will get taken down. What is disappointing about this is the coin is also harshly cleaned yet it has 78 watchers and is bid up to $1,025. Even if it were genuine it would not be worth that.

I think it's a modern counterfeit through-and-through.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
that lump on the side of the left wheat ear is a die marker for one counterfeit reverse die

I e-mailed the seller. The seller responded and claims it is real and that he sold another one like it to a coin shop for $1,100.
sorry seller, but your blurry photos are not blurry enough to hide everything
morning crowd: please report
What makes it look counterfeit to you? Appears to be a 1909 VDB scrubbed with a Brillo pad (with added S) to me
Bogus 🤢
The seller ended the listing, apparently by selling it to the current highest bidder. The seller posted several notes in the listing about being contacted regarding its authenticity (the old "I know nothing about coins defense"), so apparently he is trying to rip off the current high bidder before the listing gets nuked. I reported it again under my other account, so ebay still may nuke the transaction if they get more reports.
From the listing description:
"I have been getting message after message about this coin even people threatening about it I can't believe some of them...so again all I know about this is it's a penny I don't know anything about coins...my friend was cleaning out some old storage units and found a bag of old coins this is one of them"
Which one of you "threatened" the seller - it wasn't me!
not the first complaint from a seller of threats
some do threaten with jail, but i think they mean the other kind
