Wondering if this is an 1822 25 over 50c overdate variety, it's a lovely type coin, I hate grading services but don't want to underrepresent it. Opinions? Thanks!

Doesn't look like it. This picture is from Coin Facts.

Thank you, I just needed confirmation
Why is that?
Sorry, that was too terse. They serve an important function. I think there are significant problems with the market penalties for problem coins which are exacerbated by trying to force every coin into few tiers between 1 and 70. So beautiful coins with past cleanings (common in coins with numeric grades) and minor damage get underrated. Often coins with beautiful long term storage toning get slammed as altered or artificial. Coins worthy of net numeric grades end up being detailed. Perhaps the problem lies as much with dealers who forgot or never learned how to grade, and collectors who think they don’t need to. The best function these companies serve for me is making authentic key dates marketable in a growing sea of counterfeits. The arbitrariness in the current system becomes apparent with resubmissions.
