Charlotte Coin Show

Took an afternoon to venture up to Charlotte for their annual coin show. A bit out of the way, but I like driving and reflecting on the country roads journey.

Must say, arriving at noon on the last day the business seemed brisk. Counted 30 shoppers on the first isle alone.

Only saw one dealer packed up.

A nice mix of material.

Saw a colorful IHC graded by NGC that really needed a home. But I was light on cash and he was from New England states. Hoping he sticks around for Spartanburg show.

Did not see alot of proof and mint sets. I like to peruse them on my initial walk through. Still, found one set with a potential condition rare cherrypick I will submit.

One series I have oddly only given a casual look is Peace Dollars.

Grabbed a PCGS MS65 1923 Peace Dollar that seemed about right for the grade.

A fair amount of Classic Commens, a bunch of Morgans, a mix of gold.

Just wasn't feeling it TBH so I bolted after a couple of hours.

Next year will fly up to maximize my time. Maybe set up a table if I am doing all that...

Had to laugh. Parking was $10.

My biggest regret was not taking a picture of the sign and make it my avatar for @NJCoin

Paid some tolls along the way, but it was free admission.

Have to be on the road next week. Given the logistics, a slight detour for the annual SC Numis Spartanburg show will be a priority for a day.

Also the big Atlanta show coincides with picking up my wife at my in-laws. Coin Shows are lining up nicely for me early in 2025.

Thanks for the writeup. I went on Friday when it opened at 10am. About 40 people waiting in line to get in. I was able to sell a number of items - '50's proofs, swiss shooting thalers, and a few confederate obsolete notes. Didn't find any coins from my want list or anything that caught my eye, so I bought 20 ounces of silver to add to the stack. That way I didn't go home empty handed.

This is the first time I have gone to this show since before Covid. I don't care for the venue and their $10 parking fee. Used to be a great show when it was out at Metrolina. I probably won't return for another five years but it was a nice day for a drive from Pinehurst.

If I hadn't read this I would have missed the Spartanburg show.
Not sure whether to thank you or not. :)
I always liked that little show. Not a bad drive and I have found some good stuff there.
    Hhhhmmmm. I'll study on it.
