New one to report, the other listing was removed. I spoke with both owners and they still have the coins. The man posting them claimed to be friends with both sellers.

  • OK, I'll admit I am naive, but people actually buy gold on Ebay?

Absolutely. Many major gold dealers sell there: Apmex, Liberty coins, Pinehurst, Stacks Bowers on occasion

Even if it was real, why would anyone pay $17,250 for approximately 4 ounces?

So, I'm guessing you would only be pay $2800 for a 1933 double eagle?

Did you see anything in that set other than the $3 that should go for over spot? Even the ungraded $3 is $1,000 max.

If UNC, many of the fractionals sell for over melt. Melt is $12000. You don't need huge premiums to make it worth close to that number. I don't feel the need to poop on someone's sale price.
