Card is a psa 10 but card has some dings

I have a joe montana Psa 10 that has a value around 700. So i got this card and never even noticed that it has a ding on the right side of the card. So i went to the verification on the website and it shows the same damage in the picture on psa website. with this spot on the card i feel guilty selling this as a 10 which i did have a buyer for it. I did contact psa regarding this issue. Has anyone had this issue before ? The different between a psa 10 and 9 is alot. Psa 10 sells in the 700s and a 9 is like 30 bucks. Per ebay and recent sales . Thanks

    Welcome to the message boards!

When this happens, it's certainly a dilemma.

There's a couple things that come to mind, that you could do; try to get PSA to refund you the money difference, or just sell the card honestly and let the buyer decide. Some buy the card, some "need" that "10".

I'm not sure how it works with trying to get a refund from PSA. Maybe others could let you know how it works. Did you submit it yourself, or buy it without noticing the damage?

Hope that helped some. Good luck!

I’ve had two recently graded cards purchases arrive, graded 9, that had surface bubbles that couldn’t be seen in the PSA scan but are very obvious in hand. And of course no recourse because the card is graded. So I have turn and sell at a loss (my scans are high res and will show the issue).

Grading is so inconsistent it is actually making buying online harder due to return policies.

Can we see the card or tell us what the card is? If you paid 700 for it doesn't mean PSA says it's worth that....

I think the play here is if you don't want to "foist" it on someone is the sell it on ebay to a friend, then have the friend contact PSA saying they got bought a PSA 10 that passed eBay auth (which isn't going to look for dings), and that it's over-graded.

In all honesty, just sell it on ebay and let someone else deal with it. It's going to go through eBay Auth when it sells for $250, so there is no returns, or if you ship it internationally (through eBay shipping). Or sell it through fanatics (pwcc)

Your recourse was to open a ticket with PSA saying they are over-graded/damaged, and then get the price difference....
