Possible variant 1 cent 1988 and 1 cent 1972-

Hi friends,

I'm new collector USA cent coins.

I need to know if are variant.

1972 possible double die in date.





1988 possible without letters FG and the cent reverse.

    No not a doubled die just some minor strike doubling for the 72. As you did not say I'm assuming that you are wondering about the missing initials on the 88. This is most likely due to a grease filled die, the other option would be missing due to over polishing of the die. But if that were the case there would be other indications and missing or not fully complete areas of the design which I'm not seeing on your coin.

    Either way grease filled or polished this is very minor and for a coin in this condition it would not add any value over the face value of one cent.

    There are nine of recognized 1972 varieties

    Hard to say without images of IGWT...

    Maybe nothing... maybe FS105 or FS109

    Did you look at the images on Variety Vista?

    I did and yes is FS-109 (033.59).

    I did and yes is FS-109 (033.59).

    Your closeup photo of the date does not match the date photo for an FS-109 as shown on Variety Vista, I do not see any matches for your coin to any known DDO for 1972.
