Concerning the NEW 2025 Topps Series 1...Finally has ARRIVED!
Hi guys,
Many Videos have surfaced in the 2025 Topps Series 1 product.
However, as I witnessed thus far.
This Series, does NOT look promising!
Yes, many Breakers have experienced bad fortune, so far?
In different formats too.
Very "Lack Luster" in all these RIPS!
I pre ordered
2 - 2025 Series 1,
"SUPER BOXES" from FANATICS.
At a modest cost of only
$39 apiece.
I should be receiving them very soon!
When I do get them in my hands, I'll
RIP them on my Thread,
"Never go shopping when you're Hungry..."
If I don't pull any worth while Cards.
I will announce my avoiding this Series entirely!
I'll keep hunting for the exciting
2024 UPDATE, instead!
How many of you guys agree with me?
Thanks 😉

I mean, what wax has provided a good return in the last say, decade? If you can sell your cards, net fees, for 50% of cost of the box, you probably did pretty well.
It is the reason I don’t open modern boxes. A retail or hobby box of UD hockey will cost100-200 bucks and get you a stack of 25 bucks in cards. If you get lucky and hit the case hit, you may break even.
I get the gambling aspect of it but almost all of these products turn a dollar into a quarter.
Yes, your statement for the most part, is correct!
However, despite the retail aspect and/or the inexpensive prices for these products. Many times, the 2024 UPDATE for example, although cheap plus retail, many Great PULLS came out!
In which, would definitely surpass the values of their BOX cost!
Far better than the quarter or Half profit you mentioned.
Although, most of the time, your figures show up more often.
Like in this 2025 Series, shows numbers even lower than your numbers.
Thanks 😉

I've bought various modern products over the past 5+ years and ripped, solely because I enjoy the gambling aspects. I've hit a few single cards that covered the box prices - a clear acetate /10 of a hot rookie, an auto of a hot wide receiver in Bowman University Chrome - but if that doesn't happen then it's a real scramble to recoup anywhere even close to the box price.
This is before your time Joey, and it just closed for the coming year, but I had fun in the Topps 582 Montgomery Club a few years back. They'd provide members with exclusive mini-releases that were fun for the gambling aspect - you might get an auto or a parallel in a 10 or 20 card "set" that was only available to club members, so resale on those was pretty solid because of scarcity. I haven't been a member for a few years because the value just plummeted, but I think it's now mainly "pay a $200 membership fee to get guaranteed access to releases that typically sellout when released to the public". They sold memberships for a week in late January, but they're done until next year.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I think its tough to really evaluate what you have sometimes. I think the real test is are you able to bust a box, list the best pulls for sale, count up your net dollars received minus listing fees grading fees whatever fees and say wow, yup, I got more money than I put in. I would think that happens like 12% of the time if you do it consistently. Similar to the casino, the average person loses. You cant make a living pulling the slot handle or opening Topps or Panini Prizm product year after year. You can have a nice run which may be misleading and make you think you will continue winning. But just like the casino, stay long enough and they get it back.
Sometimes its easier to feel like a winner with better years better sets. I used to feel that way with 87 Donruss when it was sold for like $20 a box. Cause you usually got a Maddux and I got lucky and got some nice centered ones. Aside from him, you had Bo Jackson and Bonds and McGwire and Canseco and Will Clark etc etc. Maybe a year where Skenes and Jackson Holliday and Jackson Merrill and Jackson Chourio and Elly De La Cruz and Dominguez Langford Westburg Kjerstad Cowser are in the set is a year where yeah, you might be able to beat the system more often than other years cause there is so much potential. 2025, I cant imagine one player who will get his first card that I am excited to pull. I may feel different in June. Roki maybe. But now, not so much. You think about maybe 2 years ago in football. Kenny Pickett was your big pull. Some years are duds. More so after the fact too.
The "when" can play a role in it. You sell all your 2024 pulls now you may do all right. But if some of those guys dont pan out, it could be tough to be holding them thinking what you could get today. If Martian whiffs on a 250K per year pace and hits .230 and does not fully develop. If Jackson Holliday in the future is more like what he was last year. You open a ton of 2017 football and you kept it and you have 5 Mahomes rookies you were right. Nice decision to bust away. You sold right away, bad bad horrible call. If you have that stack of Kenny Picketts cards you wish you sold them.
Now if you are having fun and wont miss the money, who cares, have a blast. Many of us do that. But as you get more gray hairs and wrinkles in this industry you learn most of the time you wont win. You play long enough you lose. Financially. But if you are having fun and the money you are spending is not too much for you, then you are winning.
Very good point!
Yes. I do enjoy these "Beautiful" designs and appearances!
Despite their value.
But it's always nice to Flip some where you can buy additional boxes!
And yes. It all depends on the players. Hoping they do pan out and stay healthy and talented!
Otherwise, your collection will crumble, just like the unfortunate player's achievements that crumble too.
Thanks 😉

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I hoarded 2018 Topps Update when it came out... sold most of it at the peak, but at tenfold what I payed for it. Did similar the decade before with 2009 basketball. I'm guessing from the context of the rest of your post that you mean "return" as in value after opening... but then I'd argue vintage is even worse in that regard, just more expensive. Quick way to turn $10 into $2 instead of a dollar into a quarter.
Congrats on your strong will to hold on for the real value to arise!

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Great example of how you can win with the right year. I remember getting 3 boxes of 2018 Donruss Optic at the National to have fun opening at the hotel. It didnt feel like major hits then. But fun. But looking back Ohtani and Acuna cards. Maybe not a win that day. But years later, yeah. And the auto rookies I got then, Mitch Garver Albert Abreu a promising young pitcher for the Yankees, Willie Calhoun a top 100 prospect for the Rangers then. Those pulls went from not too valuable to near worthless. If some of the big guys were a year later or earlier profound colossal duds of boxes. Soto also made that an incredible year to open boxes but I whiffed and did not pull him once in 3 boxes.
I haven't looked at it closely enough but I would say 1 out of every 4 years turns out to be a good year to collect. In football 2017 and 2018 are good years but 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2021 are not. 2020 does have the Burrow rookie.
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
