Great Collections - Auction win shipping

I won my first coin in a Great Collections auction and paid via check and I'm wondering how long it takes them to ship a coin out. My check was received on January 20 and my invoice was marked paid on January 27. What is your experience? Thanks.

My guess is your coin will ship on Monday February 3rd. Mailing a hard copy check to the auction house is the way to ensure the slowest delivery. It's much faster if you simply set up an eCheck account with them.
Won a lot on Jan 26th also paid by paper ck, marked paid on the 30th and shipped on the 31st. USPS shows item arriving on Mon the 3rd, eight days start to delivery. This is fairly typical of my past experiences with a paper ck at GC.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Don't feel bad.
I've been a long term client of SB and personally know the principals. When they moved part of their organization to the West Coast I was told they needed 30 days before they would ship my coin paid with an electronic check from my bank.
I would rather pay with my CC that gets 2% cash back, so my coin ships the next day for very little extra. The idea of sending in a personal check is mind blowing. Lol
Ian and GC are the best of the big boys at speed and cost. Heritage and SB are slower and more expensive. I have had GC coins i won on Sunday night arrive the following Thursday or Friday. The suggestion to set up an Echeck account is sound advice imo. Good luck
The first e-check GC will hold shipment for 1 week. After you are established GC will ship the day after paid by e-check. GC also ships with next 2 days if paid by CC, but of course buyers fee is 2.5% higher
"GC's standard 12.5% buyer's fee (min $5) applies to this auction, discounted to 10% (min $5) if paid by Check, eCheck or Wire. All bids are in U.S. Dollars."
-.5% may not be a whole lot to eat in the overall, but it is money?
I routinely pay for coins I win in auctions with a check. I have my specific reasons why I pay by check. I’m not flipping coins and I don’t care if it takes an extra week or two.
I do as well to save a few bucks, but it sucks when you land a nice cherry pick and have to keep quiet about it for two weeks. That happened last Labor Day weekend where I screwed up and paid by check rather than by PayPal for an extra $8. I could have had the coin in-hand and showing it off within 5 days.
Won on Sunday, paid by CC, coins in hand on Wednesday.

Different shipping experiences for everyone it seems. My win went out today, which is about two weeks from the date they marked my check as received.

I pay by credit card and the coin is always shipped on Tuesday and received on Thursday.
I did not feel it warranted to start another thread, but I just emailed Ian, Raeleen, and the crew there . . . .I had an auction close on 1/26 and had a check in hand today. Simply superb. I can't get over the fact that in this world of disappointments, GC always maintains a position of professionalism.
Well done GC !!!!!

I always pay online right after I win. It ships within 24 to 48 hours. I have it in my hand about 2-3 days after that. GC is the best in the business when it comes to shipping.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Interesting, that has not been my experience with GC. My last win (which came quicker than coins in the past) was on 1/12/25 and it arrived on 1/22/25 via FedEx. I paid with an e-check immediately after the auction.
@Nederveit2 . I don't know if you use tracking but perhaps the difference lies there. I have done business with Great Collections for more than a decade. Numerous purchases and all shipped in a timely manner. However, about 2 years ago I had a coin make the usual trek from California to Minnesota. Then it bounced to San Francisco. Spent more than a week going back and forth between Oakland. finally went to Chicago and a mere week later made it here. No fault of G.C. but anybody can have a slip up. I would expect prompt shipments if you win again. James
I have also done business with GC for many years. I value what they offer and would not hesitate to use them again, It was just a bit surprising to hear the above stories about folks getting their coins within a few days which has not been my experience. My latest coin arrived within 10 days which I think is acceptable. I did have a check (consignment) bounce around once.
