Does PCGS take a new Trueview upon a reholder

NorCalJackNorCalJack Posts: 553 ✭✭✭✭✭

I submitted several coins in PCGS holders for variety attribution. One of the coins already has a Trueview so will they take a new photo of the coin or will they use the old photo. I hope they take a new photo since the original Trueview is not great.

Has anyone gone through something like this and what happened in your case.

When I did it as a re-holder with variety attribution, the cert number stayed the same as well as the True View.
Another time I submitted an economy with no True View, but upgraded to Gold Shield so got the Ture View.

Did you submit with Gold Shield fee or pay the $5 for True View, because the $14 re-holder will not necessarily get you a True View (if it became a top pop, they used to TrueView it (free to you) for CoinFacts but not sure if they still do).

I submitted it for Gold Shield even though it already had a Trueview. The variety did get a top pop and the Coinfacts has been updated with the old Trueview. The submission is currently in imaging, hoping they change the Trueview.

Here is the old Trueview. It really does not do justice for the coin. The coin has nice color and graded MS-67

If you paid for Gold Shield then you paid for a Trueview and deserve one. The photography department has been unreliable lately. For several restoration submissions I have they made a TV of the pre-restoration coin and then I had to ask them to update it with post-resto photos. It wouldn't surprise me if they note the existing TV and don't take a new one although they should because a coin's appearance can change with time.

When I sent a coin back for re-holder that already had a TV, they uploaded a new TV. The new one was so bad that I requested the old TV to be restored.

I just submitted 2 coins at FUN for regrade and I had to request new photos. The rep for PCGS said they will not take new ones unless requested.
