Consignment?

I’m considering consigning my 1985 Topps Walter Payton #33 PSA 10. I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on who would give me the best return - Probstein, 4SC, etc?

No way to predict, but it's been a few years since the marketplace has seen one sold. Seems like it would be a good feature piece for a catalog sale like Robert Edward Auctions (REA). Just a thought.

All is fair in love and war and third party grading.

  • I guess my concern would be can I make up the 15% difference in consignment fees with an auction house.

When I consigned a couple years ago they took 5% of the hammer. Results were excellent for items of higher value.

Sometimes they will work with you on a lower fee.

I didn't realize the 1985 Topps Walter Payton #33 in PSA 10 was worth that much until I looked it up. I guess those black borders make it tough to find one in PSA 10.

I think a good auction house would work. That is a very high end card.

Greg Morris gets very good results. So does Steve Novella. Take this with a grain of salt but many people see 4SC and a PSA 10 they get a little uneasy. Probstein...well nothing nice to say about him.
REA and Memory lane get decent money but buyers have a 20% premium and shipping is expensive.

Honestly pick your price and put it on the BST here. Lots of big dogs out there.

A BIN on eBay sold for $3499.99 on 12/15/2020. Most recent sale according to VCP. Someone got a Merry Covid Christmas gift back then. I feel that card is close to a 10K ceiling now.

  • I think it will generate interest with the low pop and not being available very often which also makes it difficult to put a price on it. I would definitely prefer to sell it to someone on here. Open to reasonable offers. Thanks for the feedback!

    IMHO use Morris!
