Have you heard of this

I was informed that my 2001 Lincoln cent was struck on a Sacagawea dollar planchet. I'm unsure how to proceed, but I do intend to send it to PCGS for authentication and grading soon. In the meantime, I'd appreciate any insights or information you may have about this type of error coin. Thank you!

The Sac dollar is 7.49 mm larger. The margins between the text and rim would be much larger, but they look similar. If you’re going by color, Lincoln cents come in an assortment of colors.

Not only would the size be wrong, but the weight would be wrong too. A "penny struck on a dollar planchet" would weigh the same as a dollar.

And no, it's not some case of the Mint "accidentally using dollar metal strips to punch out penny blanks" or some such thing. Again, the weight would be wrong if this happened, but ultimately it's impossible for that to happen because the Mint doesn't actually make the blanks for pennies. Artazn / Jarden Zinc makes the blanks, and plates them, before shipping them off to the Mint. The Mint just strikes them.

If you search Google or YouTube for "how to make golden pennies", you can find all kinds of instructions on how to make as many "golden pennies" just like yours as you could wish.

Cents take on all types of different coloring depending on the environment they are stored in. A copper coated zinc cent weighs 2.5 grams - a Sacagawea dollar weighs 8.1 grams - a scale will put this nonsense to rest.......
