How often does PSA update vintage pricing?

I mainly collect vintage, pre WWII hockey. I like it for the rarity of the cards. I do use the PSA price guide but I find it to be very stale and way out of touch with recent auction sales. It's been literally years since I've seen any updates on the sets that they have. (There are several key sets they don't even have price guides for.) I've also found that auction sales are often two to three times book value. Rarely, do things sell for book value.

I do appreciate PSA's auction sale values that at least has eBay sales. It's funny that the items I trade move so infrequently that when looking for certain items all I can see is my own sales from several years ago.

My question is do other sports experience the same thing, especially with pre-WWII sets? I only have time and money for one sport and hockey is my sports card drug of choice. Thanks!!

They are ruthlessly efficient in updating their internal DB used for upcharging

The price guide is a huge advertising campaign, that PSA heavily overlooks. There is no direct revenue fro updating it, but the updated prices can sell themselves. But business is good, so they don't feel the need.

Work hard and you will succeed!!
