Boeing Show - Honey Buckets? - DBH newp
Made it down to the sad Kent Commons today for the show. The ‘usual’ gym was under construction, so we were directed to another gym around the corner … complete with Honey Buckets outside for us … I’ve attended a lot of coin shows over the years but that was a first for me. 😂 Beware The Pit Of Despair! It’s a bummer that the Boeing Coin Club doesn’t find a classier space for this annual show … couldn’t Boeing Brass kick in some bucks for it? …. probably too big of an ask considering the recent strike ….
Felt like good energy on the bourse. Bumped into Swampboy and we performed the secret handshake.
Picked up this DBH just because I like its appearance, and the obverse in particular seems just too nice for the grade. My first CACG slab. Thanks for taking a look. 👀☮️

Perfect old original dark gray fields with cameo devices - love it!

You really sorry you missed the honey buckets?
Nice pop 1 there SS

What's not to love about that half
Nice score
We came home with a nice 1853 $1 from @2windy2fish

I love Boeing products! 17,000 hours in them! 😉 Great looking coin!
Nice, @Swampboy
I've got 1 $1gold for my type set. I'm amazed at how small they are and that they circulated.
Makes me wonder how many were lost by people due to size..."back in the day"

Yep that $1 looks wholesome for sure.
I considered a gold fractional (.50) I came across — 62PL but very deep cameo in appearance — talk about tiny!
@Swampboy Thank you for stopping by and the purchase! A nice coin for your type set and i have had so much fun with your friends and their new found passion for collecting… She is extremely passionate about learning how to grade coins correctly and he continues to build his Morgan set carefully and is a fun challenge to sell a coin to!
I was thinking he meant the confusion of entering through the 'exit only' door.
edit: they put two different years on that token...

I’ll be there Sunday. Going to drink extra coffee to ensure I can really make full use of the honey bucket situation.
Wow can’t believe I missed that…
😆
Love the Draped Bust design.
Wholesome looking Cameo-Circulated piece.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

None of the employee clubs get any support, other than maybe some web space.
Honestly, rather than 5K spent on a club, I'd want 5K of salary to help preserve somebody's job.

It was the same situation with the alternative room and honey buckets back in July when the Evergreen Stamp Club had their summer show. Hopefully the renovations of the main big old gym room will be finished soon.
That is a great show, sorry I couldn't make it this year.
I wouldn't think it would be a big deal to use them unless the doors fell off.
🤔 a big deal? No, in the big scheme of things, of course not. BUT … in 30 degree weather … and especially should you have the need to take a seat …. the word TACKY does come to mind!
I figured those were set up more for construction workers than show people. I would have sought out a bathroom had I needed to use the facilities.
I dropped by for an hr on Saturday. I go every year, but this time I had a hard time even finding the dang door. They marched you outside and around the building. I tried a door that appeared to be the entrance, but the door was locked. I continued on around the building until I bumped into a police officer. I asked him how to get to the coin show, and he marched me back to the door I had previously tried. He jiggled it a bit and finally got it open. Geez!!!
Anyway, I got there around 11am, and it was quite busy, even given the locked entrance!
Picked up a BU roll of 64 Kennedys. I hate leaving a show empty handled.
