Wondering how many of these are out there? Not the McKinley dollar...

Came across this the other day and picked it up at a good price not taking the box into account at all. I saw one sold on-line with the box but didn't see the sale price. Also found an old Heritage auction from about 20 years ago for a DIY box with 4 or so of the boxes along with stick pins, bezels, etc... in a larger box with the same printing.

Anyone own one of the original boxes from the exposition and know if there's any value to them? I was just kind of intrigued with it as a bit of historical value. I think the dollar coin may make it's way to our hosts... more as an authentication than a value adder for me.

Love the original packaging, a great aspect to classic commemoratives. But that gold coin almost looks like a modern coin!

Dollar looks incredible. I've never seen the box for the coin before - that is quite amazing. I collect the medals from that World's Fair and they are scarce to find with the original boxes and especially the enclosed descriptive paperwork. All my medals have the original boxes, but only one has the paperwork and curiously I purchased it from a seller in the UK a few years ago.

Really nice complete package for this popular commemorative. Great find - CONGRATS!

I did find this one at a Stacks auction from last year which actually has some additional supporting documentation. Some of which would be beyond a simple coin purchase. Mine only included the box and original foam packaging material. The box is obviously rare.

I can remember a copper frame from a Pan Pac set selling a few decades back for something like $7000 or $9000, so the box is surely worth something-but probably nowhere near what the copper frame brought back then.

Even with the medals from the 1904 St Louis Worlds Fair the boxes are getting scarce:

And even scarcer is the paperwork that came with the medal

Wow, I'm not a medal collector but that's an amazing piece of history. Thanks for sharing the pics.
