you're back
did you take it up with him first?
I ran into a minor version of this situation before. A very well-known coin dealer was advertising a 1918-D 8/7 Buffalo Nickel and I went ahead and bought it - and yet in the same month, the identical nickel was featured in a coin magazine ad, offered by another dealer.
In that instance, there might have been an agreement between the two dealers to each list the coin for sale. And if so, perhaps the one who sold it to you forgot to confer with the other. Or maybe one of them (who didn’t have the coin) listed it without the other’s knowledge or permission.

The above is actually a legitimate question. You may for one reason or another, valid or not, care for the author of it yet is there a chance anyone, someone could answer it without the snark?
The best guess is that Rick had it on his website as part of a consignment. It didn’t sell and was sent to Heritage but Rick forgot to take it down from his website.
it's all guesswork atm
did anyone contact him first?
That sounds like a reasonable guess. However, the coin’s included under “New Purchases”.

Edited to add: Someone from Heritage plans to bring this to Rick Snow’s attention shortly.

I won't fathom a guess here

Bad transactions with : nobody to date
You're right. I hate to say it because EJ is normally so ridiculous in his vitriol but it is a legitimate question and asked in an almost entirely reasonable manner.
That doesn't change the fact that EJ is a troll deluxe though and, by his own actions, has thoroughly discredited himself in regards to anything numismatic. Maybe 5-10 years (in a row) of being reasonable would help things. Even my friend Cougar has turned over a new leaf over the last few months and has been a worthwhile contributor here.
Correct.
So Cougar corrrects within months but you are stating it'll take the OP five to 10 years to get back in your good graces?
Doesn't sound fair, yet lately, what has been.
(I don't know your history with the OP, so will defer to your overall judgement.)
This is an appropriate response—the snark lies with the “ol’ Ricky”.
Edit:
Forget this thread. This is a little troll stirring the pot on Molehill Mountain. Don’t quarrel for him.
This is all my opinion of course..but I don't believe Cougar was ever malicious or intentionally deceitful. Was he thoughtless? Sure.
Regarding EJ, all of the opposite is true. Here's a good place to start -> https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1101732/great-ethics/p1
i remember that thread
i remember several threads on ethics
considering everything, i'd just ask "did you talk to him first?" and how about "if no, why not?"
That pre-supposes that he actually desires the answer to the question. He doesn't. He wants to cause Rick Snow (and PCGS and CAC and ...) as much humiliation and discreditation as possible.
I don't know Rick and have no opinion about him other than what other people I do know and respect have to say about him (and it's positive).
I do know that pretending to be other people and posting libelous and anonymous messages fairly consistently over a period of years is unethical. It betrays a lack of character and integrity and, in my opinion, is significantly worse than whatever EJ is accusing Rick of doing.
EDIT: @Sanddollar Here's another fun one from not too long ago -> https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/comment/13663768
Thanks @lermish
Those are painful, yet kind of entertaining threads to read.
You can really get into a guy's psyche with the accumulation of his writings.
(Thanks for having the patience with me. I figured there probably had to be more to the story.)
Hey folks, I'm at the FUN show and so is Rick. I mentioned this to him and he said that coin was listed in error (because he had two of the same date/grade and the wrong one got listed) and he said he appreciates the heads up, and that it is in the process of being taken down.

Why didn't you just ask "good ol' Ricky?"
What a troll....Rick is one of the dealers I trust the most. You obviously had a bad experience with him, but feel compelled to do your troll thing with his website and post here. Rick is actually reasonable, if you brought this to his attention without the snark, he would have taken it down. Go back under the bridge.
