the Four Seasons rates are more than I've ever paid for a hotel - is there anywhere close and cheaper that people like? are there show rates or anything like that? what days are must-go? if my family went, is my wife gonna drop €20,000 on boutique crap or just be happy at the Prado? any help appreciated - thanks

oh it's at the Westin this year? ah, well, that's so much better
seriously, I know my wife will find time for both spending money and the Prado - y'all wouldn't know that - I'm most interested in whether saving money at a cheaper hotel nearby is worth risking robbery/hustling going to and from the venue. I want to get shanked as little as possible this year. What's the general thinking among attendees?
Hahaha!!! Buy the wife some Champagne and bid in the safety of your home.

There’s way too much to do in Madrid. > @tcollects said:
I lived in Madrid for a few years, the shanking was at a bare minimum. Dress like you’re a middle-class Spaniard and you’ll be fine. The ones you gotta watch out for are those young gitanos. They like to pickpocket. Backpack on the front, you’ll be fine. Nothing in your back pockets.
I'm BACK!!! Used to be Billet7 on the old forum.
I'm sure there will be a special rate for the event. If you want to save a few more bucks, try the Doubletree a couple of blocks away, which is well above average for the area. The Westin will be nicer, of course.

thanks gents - so, if I'm hearing y'all right, if I go with my wife, stay at the Doubletree, and if I go with my girlfriend, stay at the Westin?
