1984 Penny with blemish of unknown origin

I think it is damage after minting, but I try not to think too much. Your thoughts on this

    Looks like the plating was breached, the zinc rotted and created a bubble, which has burst.

    Trying NOT to think is rarely a recipe for success.

    How about you try to think of a way a coin could have been minted with that appearance. If you can't think of any way, that's an excellent sign that it didn't happen.

    You’re correct, it is damage after minting.
    No way for that to happen when the coin was struck.
