Cool Lincoln Exonumia Christmas Present
My buddy @shortnock gave me a box tied with ribbon for Christmas, the last time we met up at McBride's Coins here in Austin. When I opened it on Christmas there were 6 XF-Unc 1909 VDB's in 2X2's that he'd recently acquired in a big collection he reviewed and helped sell. I sent him a text thanking him for all the matte proof VDB's and we had a good laugh.
Today, I dumped the box out and under the cotton pad the VDB's were on was this. I had missed it since it was under the pad. This is one of the coolest encased Lincolns I've seen, and it is going to be the centerpiece of the small collection of encased Lincolns I have going. Thanks @shortnock !!
The other side is a mirror, so I can't tell if this is a VDB or not, but does it really matter?

Great way to find a great gift.
Nice mirror, I love that kind of stuff.
I could be wrong, but if there's no VDB on the shoulder, then it's on the reverse I believe.
Thank you! I believe that wasn't added until 1918.
You made me walk all the way across the room to check a red book. You're right!
I had to double-check also- I originally thought it was 1914 until I remembered the VDB is not present on genuine 1914-D's.
