1976 D Bicentennial Quarter DDO

Hello experts, i have spent the last two years learning an haven't submitted any coins. I'm ready to start submitting a few which will no doubt be a good learning experience. I'm attaching a couple of pics of the FS-101 1976 D DDO quarters. They are two different coins, I hope that's ok. If my pics are good enough, could you tell me if you agree or disagree with me an why, an also if you might submit them. Thank you in advance for your time, feedback an knowledge.

I don't think either one is. The doubling should be strong on LIBERTY and, maybe its the photos, I don't see any.

  • It may be the pics. I'll take some better pics in the natural light. Thank you

They could be it, but your pictures are way to blurry. If you have one (or two) it should be very obvious in hand.

Do you refer to the shelf that runs parallel to the front of the face?

Look only at LIBERTY. The doubling there is clear. If yours doesn't b look EXACTLY like the pictures I posted, it is not FS-101

I would focus on the PUP to determine variety verification. The "R" in LIBERTY seems to be most obvious to me.

You would need to provide in focus closeups of the letters like those posted on Variety Vista for anyone to say for sure, it looks like a bit of simple strike doubling from what little I can see in your photos. But even if you do have these correctly identified is there a market for well circulated examples of this DDO?

    Howdy and welcome.

I wish you well on your search, but now that I have read three of your threads I am reminded by something we say all the time in science, which is "GIGO". It stands for "Garbage In, Garbage Out" and really means that if you do something sloppily in lab, or don't follow protocols or completely mess up an experiment then none of the data that comes out of that work is worth anything. I think of this because your images aren't very useful (lighting might be sub-optimal, focus isn't really sharp, PUP areas aren't the major point of the image). You might be able to see certain things with the coin in-hand, but if you can't convey that information well to us via image then we can't really give you anything aside from "I don't see it".

    Good luck.
