How many coin shows did you attend in 2024?

goldengolden Posts: 9,780 ✭✭✭✭✭

This year I attended 8 coin shows. For the last several years I have been going to 11 shows every year. I have decided to cut out some of the smaller shows where I would have a lesser chance of finding anything that I need. I expect to attend even fewer shows in 2025. How many shows did you attend in 2024?

I think I attended just 3, all Long Beach, in 2024

Winter FUN, Long Beach #1, CSNS, August ANA, and the GACS in Tampa. A record low for me in more than 15 years.
I had intended to attend Summer FUN but my plans were derailed when my son got a new job in Philly and I jumped in to help with his last-second move. I also missed the November Baltimore show due to a wedding on my wife’s side of the family. Also Long Beach #3 was a miss because I chose to attend the GACS in Tampa, which turned out to be a whiff.

Five. FUN Winter and Summer, one Palm Beach local show, one Lakeland and the big, “never to happen again” Tampa show. I spent the most at the Tampa show, oddly enough.

I lost a Lakeland show to Hurricane Milton.

Just some local monthly shows to kick the tires, not a single major show and 2025 will be the same. Spending thousands of dollars traveling to shows is just a waste of funds that could be used to purchase a nice coin. If I were as wealthy as many here and buying 5 and 6 figure coins I would want to see them in person and would be able to afford those travels, but I'm not.

I went to 7 shows in 2024. They were all in the same state. Sadly I missed a big show due to weather

  • jfriedm56jfriedm56 Posts: 1,335 ✭✭✭✭✭

Only 3 local shows this year, due to half the shows being cancelled by the promoter. Hope to increase that number next year as a new venue is opening up monthly within 25 miles of my home in 2025.

  • lermishlermish Posts: 3,179 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Winter FUN
    CSNS
    Summer ANA
    4 Local Shows

2025 will have roughly the same number of miles travelled but much more esoteric.

None… I live in a small town in the midwestern US, and there are no coin shows I’m aware of near where I live. We don’t even have coin shops or coin clubs near where I live🥲

I think 2. Hope to do better in 2025.

Almost more important to me is how many times I lot view the major auctions. Since I work in NYC, I can lot view most Heritage and SB auctions if I plan ahead and have time.

    "Spring ANA in Colorado Springs"

Ditto, wanted to go on Fri. but chickened out because of the snow driving from Broomfield.
Saturday was good though, but by noon some of the booths started clearing out. Some of those guys were probably "burnt out" from the snow storm the previous 2 days!?...
Great Rarities display at the back near the Mint booth...

None. I went to a local show several years ago, and did not enjoy it at all. What I'm willing to spend on coins for an entire year would largely be eaten up by the expense of flying to an out-of-town show, staying in a hotel for several days, and eating at restaurants. So I don't.

  • @Rc5280
Went down on Wed. before snow started.
Stayed at the Broadmoor so getting to/from bourse was easy. Found some great coins as Wednesday & Thursday were slow, not many other buyers.

I only attended 7 or 8 this year. That is the lowest since 2017.

I usually try to get to at least 12 shows a year, so that is my goal for 2025.
