Need help with weird 2016 Pete Rose Topps cards

I cannot find any information on these 2016 Topps cards, and hoping someone has some information pertaining to them. Ripped.Topps.com while talking about Rose's 2024 Bowman card, mentions the last Topps card of Rose was the 2015 WWE card. Supposedly, Topps discontinued custom cards prior to 2016. Appreciate any help, thank you.

    [jacksoncoupage] Topps did not produce these for issue in product. These are custom made cards that someone unrelated to Topps created using Topps' template system. They shut it down just before the Fanatics purchase and without warning, I might ad. They had a variety of border templates to use: 1952, 1987, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, etc etc.

    I frequently used this service, which was a great value ($10 per 20 cards) and is missed.

    [energyrater] After reading the descriptions under the 2 examples you posted i'm gussing the Rose cards are pretty rare!

    [jacksoncoupage] The thing is, only the person who made them knows how many they ordered. They could have ordered 2000 or 20 of each. At minimum there are 20 of each of those cards (minimum req. order at Topps). It looks like they cut one to insert the sig piece and glue into another so we are down to 18 of that design.

    [energyrater] Thank you for helping me figure this out! Surprised I have not seen more Rose cards like this floating around. Even more amazing is Topps not making an issue of it, seeing that Rose was banned, and the MLB logo being on the card.

    [jacksoncoupage] I'm really surprised that Topps allowed the use of Rose and I'm sure someone was asleep during the processing. It was my understanding that you couldnt use licensed photos or current/former major league players. AT the end of the day, these are fan made but printed by Topps.

    Thanks again for the additional information. You have been very helpful solving something that I haven't been able to figure out for years. Your comment explains why you don't see more of them (Rose).

    I have yet to see any of the cards posted above on ebay, (other than the signature one I purchased) and I follow Rose cards closely for years, adding to the confusion!
