I would not have guessed that grade. I wonder how the surface got to looking that way?

And the other side?

Guessing end roll coin that had the cardboard cap on it.
Ugly and distracting toning pattern.
Not sure, but this is a great example of "mottled" toning to show if someone asks what that means.

That’s one that you take to a dog fight.
Some type of sulphur or other mineral reacted with the silver.
Wonder if the toning has been arrested or is it gonna continue to darken?

Ugliest MS66 ever!
If you were being serious you need to get out a lot more. I think the obverse is attractive.

I don't know how the temperature of the lighting might have shifted the colors of the toning vs. how it might appear in-hand, but I believe if this were shot as a TrueView (or with another quality photographer on this site) that a boatload of folks would think it really attractive.
My guess is that it is dar, but attractive, in-hand.

Gorgeous ‘64!

Absolutely agree.
This coin has a very similar look, and it is attractive to my eyes.

Not a coin that I would want.
To each his own - Not very attractive toning.
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
That toning is probably hiding surface issues and the coin is likely less than a 66 if the toning was removed.

That sounds like a lot of medium and darkly toned uncirculated and Proof coins at each grade level.

While toning CAN hide other issues, it seems like no one ever wants to consider that the toning MIGHT NOT be hiding anything. While there may be a cobra in a wicker basket, not all wicker baskets house a cobra.
Here is a toned 67. Below it is a 67+. Toning is very common on Kennedy's. Some like it, some don't.

It seems to me that quite a few more people than “no one” consider “that the toning MIGHT NOT be hiding anything.”
And while I don’t have any statistics to back it up, my guess is that there are a lot more instances of toning hiding something than of wicker baskets housing cobras.😉

Well, as a former collector of wicker baskets, there is a common saying among enthusiasts, "Once bitten, Twice Shy."
I actually like the toning - on both sides. Count me as “some one” that doesn’t suspect the toning is hiding anything.
